What is an eosinophilic granuloma?
A
A subset of histiocytosis X (Langerhans cell histiocytosis) that presents as a single self-limited lesion found in younger patients (<20yo); typically presents in skull, ribs, clavicle, mandible or thoracic spine

What are histiologic characteristics of eosinophilic granuloma?
A
Histiocyte-like cells, coffee-bean nuclei, stain with CDA1, can see bierbeck granules on electronmicroscopy; lack of nuclear atypia and atypical mitotic figures
