Q

How do you see how long an object is on a micrometer screw gauge?

A

You count how many increments are on the sleeve (the part that doesn’t rotate, and see how many increments are visible, each increment is half a millimeter. Then, on the rotating part, see which part lines up with the line on the sleeve, and measure that accordingly. Finally, do this formula:
(measurement on sleeve) + ((measurement on rotating part) Γ— 0.01)

8
Q

What is the method to carefully measure liquid?

A
  • Place the cylinder on a flat surface
  • Check the unit on the measuring cylinder
  • Put your eye at level with the liquid
  • Measure the bottom of the meniscus

Q

What is an irregular shape?

A

A shape not even or balanced in shape or arrangement

17
Q

How do you measure the volume of an irregular shape?

A
  • Put water In a measuring cylinder
  • Then measure the level at meniscus at eye level
  • Place object in measuring cylinder
  • Measure the new water level at meniscus at eye level
  • Calculate the difference between the two measurements
