photosynthesis (my review) Flashcards
What goes into start photosynthesis?
Carbon dioxide, H2O, sunlight
What opens and closes to let CO2 in?
The stomates
Inside the stomate, there are chloroplasts what is one individual called and what is a stack called?
– Individual is called thylakoid
- Stack is called grana
What is happening inside the thylakoid?
The electron transport chain
Name the four things that are present within the electron transport chain?
– Photosystem 2
– Cytochrome C
– Photosystem 1
– NADP reductase
What does NADP reductase form and moves onto?
Forms into NADPH, and moves into the Calvin cycle
Electrons are being pulled through the ET see and are being charged what happens next?
Water is split and hydrogen ions go into ATP synthase and make ATP, this process is called chemosmosis
Where does ATP go?
Moves onto the Calvin cycle along with NADPH
What four things are needed to begin the Calvin cycle?
ATP, NADPH, Sunlight or light, CO2
What does CO2 bind with?
RUBP
What is the catalyzer for RUBP
rubisco And it catalyzes which means it lowers the activation energy
What does ATP turn into throughout the cycle?
– ADP+P and it goes to the light reaction
What does NADPH turn into?
NADP+ H and it goes to the light reaction
What happens after G3 P is formed?
63P+G3P and forms glucose
How do C3 plants go through photosynthesis in the calvin cycle?
Normally, stomates open during the day
