Q

light dependant reaction (simple)

A

happens in the thylakoid membrane of chloroplast, requires sunlight and basically light energy is captured and tranformed into atp

Q

calvin cycle (simple)

A

happens in the stroma, does not require sunlight atp is used to create sugars (glucose) the plant will live and grow on

15
Q

light dependant reactions (mc)

A
  1. photons of light get absorbed by chlorophyll in the thylakoids
2.electrons which are in the pigment get excited and used to produce atp
3.the displaced electrons are replaced by photolysis

16
Q

photolysis

A

process of splitting water (by sunlight) to produce atp electrons protons NADPH

17
Q

calvin cycle

A

light independant reaction
atp from light dependant reaction and CO2 are used to produce glucose

18
Q

what do light dependant reactions use light for

A

light dependant reactions use light energy to make two molecules needed for the next stage of photosynthesis: ATP and the reduced electron carrier NADPH. In plants, the light reactions take place in the thylakoid membranes of organelles called chloroplasts

19
Q

equation for photolysis

A

H2O—>2H + 1/2O2

20
Q

chromatography

A

separating and identifying pigments

21
Q

rf

A

so like the distance moved by substance devided by the distance moved by solvent and you use it for identifying pigments
