Photosyntheis Flashcards
1
Q
Photosynthesis
A
The process in plant, which produces glucose. A glucose is then used for making cell walls and proteins. For the process sunlight, water and carbon dioxide is required.
CO2+H2O-C6H12O6+O2
2
Q
Chlorophyll
A
The green pigment found in leaves that absorbs light.
3
Q
How are leaves adapted for photosynthesis?
A
- Large surface area
- Waxy cuticle protect leaf before evaporation of water
- Stomata control what is going in and out, so lead doesn’t waste water.
4
Q
Limiting factors of photosynthesis
A
CO2 concentration
Light density
Temperature
Chlorophyll
5
Q
Uses of glucose
A
- used for respiration in night
- converted into insoluble starch for storage
- used to produce fats or oil for storage
- used to produce cellulose, strengthening the cell wall
- used to produce proteins
6
Q
To produce proteins,
A
plants also use nitrate ions that are absorbed from the soil.
