Technique to Inject ID Meds
bevel up to produce “bleb” (bump on top of skin)
-do not massage
Technique to Inject SQ Meds
- pinch skin
- no aspiration
- rotate site
- avoid 2 inches around umbilicus
- apply gentle pressure
Technique to Inject IM Meds
- skin taught
- aspirate for 5 to 10 seconds
- inject 1 mL per 10 seconds
- gentle pressure
Technique to Inject Z-Track Meds
- pull skin to side (1- 1 1/2 inches)
- aspirate
- inject slowly
- wait 10 seconds to remove
- do not massage
