Peritoneal Cavity Flashcards
what are the 2ndary retroperitoneal organs (4)
- Duodenum (except for 1st + 4th part)
- Pancreas
- ascending colon
- descending colon
What are the 2 cavities of the peritoneal cavity + what is it caused by
Greater sac- contains most gi tract organs lesser sac (omental bursa)- space behind stomach primarly
-created due to the right of viscera during development
Borders of omental bursa (lesser sac)
ant- lesser omentum (portal triad and hepatogastric lig)
Post- pancreas, left kindney/suprarenal gland
inf- transverse colon
left- hilum of spleen
right- omental foramen
what does the falciform lig attach to and what is it continous with
Attaches liver (pre much down the mid of the lobes) to ant abdominal wall (+ inf surface of diaphram) -continous with r + l coronary lig
what is the round lig of the liver a reminent of
reminent of umbilical vein
what is the suprahepatic recess
space above liver and under diaphram
what does the messentery suspend in space
broad fan of peritoneum that suspends jejunum and ilium to post abdominal wall
what does the R+ L coronary lig attach to
Attaches to R+ L triangular ligs (left important to anchor left lobe to diaphram)
what does the lesser omentum connect
extends from lesser curvature of the stomach to visveral surface of liver
What are the 2 parts of the lesser omentum
- Hepatogastric lig- connects stomach to liv
2. hepatoduodenal lig- connects duodenim to hilum of liver (has portal triad inside)
what does the greater omentum hang from and what are the 3 parts
- hangs from greater omentum of stomach
1. Gastrocolic lig- bw greater curv and transverse colon
2. Gastrosplenic lig- creater curvature to hilum of sleen
3. Omental apron- hangs from transverse colon
what deos the transverse colon seperate
seperates supracolic and infracolic compartments
what does the phrenicoloc lig anchor
anchors the left colic flexure to the diaphram
-helps to support spleen
What is the contents of the supracolic compartment (3)
liver
stomach
spleen
what is contents of infracolic compartment (3)
jejunum
ilium
sigmoid colon
what is the communication of the supra and infra colic compartments
only thru thr right colic flexure via r paracolic gutter
what is the lowest recess in peritoneal sac in males and females
males–> rectovesical pouch
females–> rectouterine pouch
what is the superior + inf recess
sup-part of the lesser sac that feeds behind the liver
inf- in greater sac in infants (closed in adults)
what is peritonitis and symptoms
inflamation of peritoneum
- lesions that cause chronic pain
- reflex spasm of ant abdominal wall
- breathing rapid+ shallow
What is ascites
Accumulation of serous fluid in peritoneal cavity due to liver damage (ex. cirrhosis)
What is a paracentesis
Surgical puncture of ant abdominal wall and paretal peritoneum for drainage of fluid
