Pelvic Organs I Flashcards
What type of organ is the bladder
retroperitoneal organ
At what lvl does the sigmoid colon end
ends at s3, below this level the rectum starts (sup 2/3 covered by periterium)
Where is the rectouterine and vesicouterine pouch in females
rectouterine- bw the rectum and the uterus
Vesicouterine- bw the bladder and the ant surface of uterus
what is the rectoanal junction created by and what does it seperate
Created by puborectalis mm
-everything below junction is anal canal
What is ant to rectum in male pelvis (and what separates it)
prostate w/ retroprostatic septum bw
What is ant to the rectum in the female pelvis
Post wall of vagina
how many semilunar folds does the rectum have
3 transverse rectal folds (sup, mid, inf)
What are the parts of the anal canal from in to out (where do anal valves start)
Starts at anal rectal junction
- has anal column with spaces in between called anal sinus
- Then there is pectinate line were anal valves start
Where does the pelvis part of the ureter cross in relation to vas deferens
Ureter pases behind vas deferens (way to remember- “water pases under the bridge”)
where does the ureter become sub peritoneal in females
becomes sub peritoneal at intersection where it passes under uterine aa
What is the post part of the bladder in men and what does it relate in space w
Base that faces post,
Terminal part of ductus deferent is retrobladder
What does the ant/ inf surface of bladder relate to in space in the male pelvis
Lacks peritoneum and faces pubic symphysis
Where is the neck of the bladder
triangular shape that is directed to the base of the prostate (exit), urethra starts here
Where is the vesicle trigone and what characterizes it
Made by int urethral oriffic and 2 uterteric offices
-No vesicle folds like the rest of bladder
If the prostate gets enlarged what can happen to the bladder
In a situation where enlargement of prostate the base of bladder will be lifted creating a recess behind trigone, will have trouble fully emptying bladder (can lead to infection etc)
