Periodisation Flashcards
How long is a session?
One unit
How long is a microcycle?
4-7 days
How long is a mesocycle?
3-8 weeks
How long is a macrocycle?
3-12 months
How long is a olympic cycle?
4 years
What is Bompa’s model?
Manipulates supercompensation within each microcycle, mesocycle and macrocycle
What is Linear Periodisation?
A Strategy that gradually changes the focus of training from a high volume and low intensity to high intensity and low volume.
What is Non-Linear Periodisation?
Anything that does not fit Matveyev’s model such as Block Periodization, Conjugated training and Undulating Periodization
What is Block Periodization?
Block is the increased sport specific training volume
What is Conjugated training?
An overload or powerlifting training strategy
What is Undulating Periodization?
Undulation is the alternation of training volume and intensity within cycle
Types of Undulating Periodization
• Daily
• Weekly
• Monthly
Two types of short term training Sequence (wave loading)?
Flat-Step loading Patterns
and
Mesocycle Step loading Patterns
What is flat-step loading?
(Low volume/ High intensity)
What is mesocycle step loading?
(High volume/Low intensity)
