FMS Flashcards
What did Kiesel et al., (2007) identify the total score showed during the FMS?
Participants who scored a total score of 14 or lower where 11 time more likely to receive an injury in a competitive season.
What are the seven FMS tests?
- Deep overhead squat
- Hurdle step
- Inline lunge
- Shoulder modbility
- Active straight-leg raise
- Trunk stability pushup
- Rotary stability
What did Minick et al., (2010) determine the interrater reliability of the FMS was?
Suggested that the FMS can be confidently used to assess the movement patterns of athletes and to make decisions related to interventions for performance enhancement, and the FMS may assist in identifying athletes at risk for injury.
What were Frost et al., (2016) findings when assessing whether deficits in joint mobility and/or the performers’ knowledge of the grading criteria could have an effect on FMS scores?
The group with the knowledge pertaining to the specific grading criteria significantly improved their FMS scores
Because knowledge of a task’s grading criteria can alter a general whole-body movement screen score, FMS or otherwise, observed changes may not solely reflect “dysfunction”. The instant that individuals are provided with coaching and feedback regarding their performance on a particular task, the task may lose its utility to evaluate the transfer of training or predict musculoskeletal injury risk.
