Pushup assessment
Measures muscular endurance
Can be done from kneeling
For 60s or exhaustion
Reassess 4-6 wks
Bench press strength assessment
Not for clients w/ general fitness or weight loss goals
Assess maximal strength & est 1RM
3 reps, 2 min RI
ADD 5-10% weight
Repeat until cannot complete 3.
Squat strength assessment
Same contraindications as BP
3 reps, 2 min. RI
ADD 10-20% weight
Until 3 reps cannot be done
Vert jump assessment
Same contraindications as BP/SQ
Uses VERTEC
Measure standing reach
Take diff of standing reach & jump reach
2 min RI, then re-test
Long jump assessment
Tests lower ext horizontal power
Same contraindications
Measure from staring line to heels of landing
2 min RI, then re-test
Lower extremity fx test (LEFT)
Tests lateral speed & agility
Same contraindications
Two cones placed lengthwise 10 yds apart. Timed.
Sprint
Backpedal
Side shuffle 2x (left to right & opp)
Carioca 2x (left to right & opp)
Sprint
40 yard dash assessment
Tests reaction, acceleration & max speed
Same contraindications
Timing begins at client’s first movement
Pro shuttle assessment (5-10-5)
Tests acceleration, de-acceleration, agility & control
Same contraindications
Two cones spaced 10yds apart w/ 3rd cone in the middle
Start at middle cone
Sequencing of Assessments
1.) Pre-participation health screening (PAR-Q & HHQ)
2.) Physiological assmts (HR & BP)
3.) Body comp (BMI,Tape,Bf%)
4.) Postural & Movement (static & OHSA & single leg OHSA)
5.) Cardio assessments (vt1/aerobic & vt2/anaerobic)
Next day for adequate rest
