Performance Flashcards
What is Vtoss used for?
- Means Takeoff Safety Speed for Category A rotorcraft. (FAR part 29)
- Takeoff Safety Speed defined as reference airspeed obtained after liftoff at which the required one-engine-inoperative climb performance can be achieved.
How do you determined TDP and VTOSS?
Referring to the charts in the performance section of the RFM
When computing the Rejected and continued takeoff distance, can you use wind to reduce the take off distance?
Yes, but only ½ the unfactored wind can be used.
Will a cross wind of 21 knots affect the TDP airspeed? Will it affect the Rejected and continued takeoff distances?
With a crosswind component of greater than 20kts, the minimum vTDP speed is 45 KIAS. In addition, 500 feet must be added to the Rejected and continued takeoff distance.
What is a Category A takeoff?
Used for Transport Category multiengine rotorcraft utilizing scheduled takeoff and landing operations under critical engine failure situations, which assures adequate designated surface area and adequate performance capability for continued safe flight in the event of an engine failure.
What is the difference between a CAT A and CAT B takeoff profile?
CAT A guarantees OEI climb out capability (part 29.53)
CAT B provides only land back protection. (part 29.63)
How much weight can you load onto the ramp then lift it to the closed position?
1000lbs
Describe the use and meaning of vTDP airspeed?
The vTDP is the first point from which a continued takeoff capability is assured under §29.59 and is the last point in the takeoff path from which a rejected takeoff is assured within the distance determined under §29.62.
What is the Cat A landing decision point?
200’ AGL and 50 KIAS
