Enviromental Flashcards
Is there any restriction regarding the ECS system in flight
The following will assure adequate fresh air ventilation to the cockpit while in flight. When operating the air-conditioning system in flight, the cockpit temperature rheostat should not be placed in the recirculation position. The air-conditioning recirculation position is to be used on the ground only. If neither heat nor air-conditioning is used in flight, the cockpit vent must be on.
What range of temperatures (heat or air-conditioning) can be controlled using the ECS control panel C/H knob?
60 degrees F in the C position (cold) to 80 degrees F in the H position (hot)
What aircraft component controls the temperature when the ECS selector is in the Heat position?
Heat- Heat Control Unit (HCU)
What aircraft component controls the temperature when the ECS selector is in the AC position?
Air-conditioning- Digital Temperature Control Unit (DTCU). It controls the compressors, condenser fans, pressure regulating valves & fresh air intake valves as directed
To apply heat to the cockpit and cabin, how does the system need to be configured?
ECS panel- Select HEAT or HT and VT
ECS panel- Adjust the C/H selector to the desired temperature
Air Source Heat/Start switch to Eng or APU as required
With the APU providing Bleed air, how will the environmental system react with a #1 ENG FIRE Warning light on?
When the APU is providing bleed air, the heater will shut down if the APU FIRE or #1 ENG FIRE warning light is on.
How are the Avionics racks and the center console area cooled?
Each compartment has a primary and backup fan. Outside air is directed over the avionics equipment and ducted back outside the aircraft.
Will a RACK FAN 1 or 2 caution light illuminate with the failure of the primary fan?
No- The Caution light illuminates when both fans are not running.
What limitations exist for the environmental system?
Max AC should only be used on the ground for cockpit. In flight if neither heat nor A/C is being used then vent must be selected.
