What is the corpus cavernosum?
expands during erections, bad to have tumour here
What is the corpus spongiosum?
contains the urethra so dont want it to expand
What lines the proximal and distal urethra?
proximal - uroepithelium
distal - squamous
What is Blatanitis Xerotic Obliterans (BXO)?
very common - no known cause
usually young and presents with phimosis or paraphimosis
chronic inflammatory infiltrate
What causes a papilloma?
HPV 6 + 11 - genital warts
HPV 16+ 18 = high risk
What is the most common penis neoplasia?
PEiN - penile intraepithelial neoplasia
What are the two types of PEiN?
differentiated - non HPV
dedifferentiated - HPV related
What are the characteristics of penile cancer?
uncommon
big ulcerating squamous cell carcinoma
