A

How well the air comes out of your lungs

How would you explain how to do the peak flow?

A

Stand up, if possible. If not, then sit up as straight as possible
deepest breath possible
Mouth around the mouth piece, create a tight seal
Exhale all of your air forcefully and quickly

How would you measure the peak flow?

A

ensure PEFR meter set to 0
Use a clean mouth piece
Perform the breaths 3 times
Use the highest valve from the 3

How would you explain the spirometry?

A

Take the deepest breath possible
Exhale as hard and as fast as you can
But the difference between this one and the last one is that You need to exhale for as long as you can (min 4 secs)

A

Perform 3 times

Best 2 results should be within 5% or 100ml of each other to ensure the result is accurate
