Aphthous ulcer description
single or multiple, shallow, hyperemic ulcerations
Pyogenic granuloma
- Female>Male; Pregnancy
- Inflammatory Gingival lesions; Red lobular ulcerating mass
- Tx: Surgical excision
What can develop f/ Pyogenic granuloma
Peripheral ossifying fibroma

- Long-standing PG or de novo f/ peridontal ligament
- Tx: Complete excision down to periosteum
Leukoplakia
Premalignant white patch which cannot be scraped off and not characterized as any other Dx
Red Velvety, eroded lesions of oral cavity
Erythroplakia -> Carcinoma in situ

- “Betel chewing teeth”
- Betel/Areca nut -> stimulatory, carcinogenic -> SCC

Raised, firm, pearly plaques on verrucous areas of mucosal thickening

- Children 2-4
- abrupt onset of vesicles/ulcers, Lymphadenopathy, fever, anorexia
HSV1 Histo
- acantholytic epithelium “Tzank” Cells
Types of Oral candidias
- Pseudomembranous: Multiple white plawues; easily wiped off to reveal erythematous base
- Erythematous: MEdian rhomboid glossitis, loss of filiform papillae on midline of tongue
- Hyperplastic: White plaques which do not scrape off but responds to clotrimazole
