- XR: Soap bubbles
- Tx: Enema, N-Acetylcysteine. Sx
- A/S: CF
IBS Definition
Characterized by chronic or recurrent abdominal pain, bloating, mucus in feces, and an erratic disturbance of defecation without a clearcut etiology.
Rome IV criteria
Recurrent abdominal pain at least 1 day/ week with < 2 or more criteria:
- Related to defecation
- A/S w/ change in freq of stool
- A/S w/ change in appearance of stool
Extraabdominal IBS S/S
Fatigue, fibromyalgia, sleep disturbance, chronic headache
IBS Red Flags
- Age
- Fever
- WL
- Bleeding
- Vomiting
- Hematemesis
IBS Treatment
- Diet modification + avoidance
- S/S Drug Tx: Hyoscyamine, Lubiprostone, Linaclotide, plecanatide
- Laxatives: polyethylene glycol
- Other: Prucalopride (5HT agonist)
IBS-D Tx
- Dipheoxylate
- Loperamide
- Rifaximin
- Alosetron (refractory)
- Eluxadoline

Cholecystectomy, sphincter of Oddi Dysfx, Liver Dx, Alchoholism

Celiac Workup
- AntiGliadin + Anti-tTG IgA or IgG
- Derm Herpet Skin biopsy

- Diet Modification
- Corticosteroids during crisis
Gluten-containing cereals

Functional Dyspepsia Cause + S/S + Diagnosis
- N/0 infiltration of gastric mucosa
- Et: NSAIDs, smoking, alcohol, uremia, trauma/burns, shock
- Diagnose w/ endoscopy
