Passive Care - Sinusoidal / Faradic Flashcards
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Action
Electrokinetic (sinusoidal destructive if perpendicular - used for interference current)
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Results
Muscle contraction Stretching of fibrotic tissue Hyperemia Increased lymph flow Decongestion Detoxification
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Wavelength
Symmetrical (sinusoidal)
Asymmetrical (faradic)
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Indications SINE
- Muscle Tension - Intermittent
- Hysterical Paralysis
- UMNL lesions in which the LMNL is intact
- testing, toning, massaging, exercising normal muscles
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Indications Faradic
- Stimulating of weak or paralyzed muscles / 1:5 duty cycle
2. Electrodiagnosis (reaction of degeneration)
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Contraindications
Same as those to all modalities and all electrical modalities
Where muscle contraction is not desired: fracture, dislocation, osteoporosis, rickets, osteomalacia, Pott’s disease (TB), when it may disrupt a healing process (eg. consolidation of hematoma, pacemaker, recent scar tissue, new skin, abrasions)
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Intensity
To patient tolerance or until muscle contraction is achieved
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Duration
20 minutes
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Penetration
Deep
Sinusoidal / Faradic: Pads
No dispersal pad
