Definition of Myofascial Therapy
A
Treatment of myopathic physiological component of a subluxation, treatment of trigger points, myofascial dysfunction is a cause of neurological irritability

Trigger Points
A
Small regions of metabolic distress, caused by the combination of increased energy demand and impairment of oxygen and energy supply.
This is probably due to a local restriction of circulation. This leads to spasticity, trigger points and toxic build up within the muscle.

Treatment of myofascial pain syndromes involve:
A
- Restore circulation to involve muscles via ischemic compression, spray and stretch technique, ice, ultrasound or EMS
- Combination therapy is commonly used…ice plus some other modality
- Restore muscle to its normal resting length via PNF and home exercises
- Correct whatever perpetuating factors exist
