Paper/Computer Saccade Assessment Flashcards
What is the KD saccadic test?
King Devick (NYSOA New York State something) used to test saccades and for concussion management
What are the three tests in KD?
KD 1 has dots to follow along horizontally, KD 2 the dots are removed KD 3 there is less space horizontal causing crowding
T/F the NYSOA KD test may be unscorable if the patient loses their place
True
How do you fine the z score?
Actual - mean/standard deviation
What do you do with a Z score?
Use the table to find how the patient ranks for the percentile
If the time is poorer than average use the _____ z score
Negative
What is the DEM?
Developmental eye movement test for saccades
What are the three DEM tests?
Test A read as quickly as possible down each column, Test B read as quickly as possible down each column (again), Test C read as quickly as possible across each row
What do you need to find the Z score for in DEM?
Vertical (total time) and horizontal time and ratio of horizontal adjusted/vertical adjusted
How is time adjusted on the DEM?
Time x 80/ (80-o+a)
What is the ratio in the DEM?
Horizontal adjusted time/vertical adjusted time
What do the results of DEM show?
Normal, ocular motor dysfunction and rapid automaticity naming problems
What do you do for OMD?
VT
What do you do for RAN?
Speech/language help
What indicates OMD?
Normal vertical and high horizontal time or high vertical and horizontal
What indicates RAN?
High vertical and horizontal times
What type on the DEM is normal and which is OMD?
Type 1 and 2 respectively
What is the readalyzer?
Computer program, patient reads passage while wearing goggles and eye movements are recorded to be compared to grade level norms
What happens after reading a readalyzer passage?
Comprehension is tests
What eye movements are tracked by a readalyzer?
Fixations, regressions, fixation duration, reading rate, and grade level
What is right eye?
Eye tracking without goggles that provides a readout of saccades and pursuits, useful for diagnostic and therapeutic goals
