Duodenal atresia
Causes early bilious vomiting with proximal stomach distention (double bubble on X ray)
Associated with Downs
Duodenal=Down
Meconium ileus
CF
Necrotizing entercolitis
Necrosis of intestinal mucosa and possible perf.
Colon usually involved, can involve entire GI tract
More common in preemies due to low immunity
Ischemic colitis
Pain out of proportion
After eating, weight loss
Common at splenic flexure and distal colon.
Typically affects elderly.
Adhesion
Fibrous band of scar tissue
Commonly forms after surgery
Most common cause of bowel obstruction
Well demarcated necrotic zone
Angiodysplasia
Tortuous dilation of vessels => hematochezia
Most often in cecum, terminal ileum, and ascending colon.
Most common in older pts
Confirmed angiography.
