Rare often fatal childhood hepatoencephalopathy
Finding: mitochondrial abn, fatty liver, hypoglycemia, vomiting, hepatomegaly, coma.
Associated with viral infection (VZV, influenza B) treated with aspirin.
MOA: aspin metabolite decreases beta oxidation by reversible inhibition of mitochondrial enzymes
