Adenosine

A

Used in arythmias esp. SVT
DOA is 15 secs
Can work by blocking Ca influx and increasing K efflux causing slowed conduction at the AV node (given chance to SA node to work)
Not used with theophylline or caffeine cause they can blunt its effect

S/E flushing, bronchoconstriction, hypotension, sense of impending doom chest pain

Disulfiram

A

Alcohol withdrawal
Reacts with ethanol to increase serum acetaldehyde conc which has unpleasant symptoms
Inhibits aldehyde dehydrogenase
Drugs that can cause disulfiram like reactions: metronidazole, cephalosporins, chlorpropamide, lopinavir + ritonavir (has alcohol)
