Bacteriostatic, used for patients allergic to penicillin
Azithromycin, erythromycin, clarithromycin
A/E- GI disturbance, Ototoxicity

A
Binds to 50S ribosomal subunit reversibly
A/E- grey baby syndrome (can’t glucoronidate due to poor renal development.),
anaemia(g6p dehydrogenase deficiency),
Interacts with warfarin and phenytoin

Aminoglycosides
A
Bactericidal, broad spectrum but narrow TI, given parenterally
Gentamicin, neomycin, tobramycin
A/E Ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity

Nosocomial infections, Pseudononas aeruginosa(severe resistant infection)
Ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, norfloxacin
