Dronedarone
A
Blocks sodium, potassium and calcium
Used in AFib and atrial flutter
Similar to amiodarone but iodine is removed to reduce side effects such as pulmonary and thyroid issues. Though it’s less effective
Both can cause QT prolongation, GI issues, liver toxicity and heart failure risk
Interacts with digoxin, statins, warfarin, some antidepressants, cyp3A4 inhibitors (eg grapefruit juice),
FDA warning— can increase risk of death in pple with permanent AFib so use in selected patients
