women needs to have extra calories a daily increase of 266-496 (2nd + 3rd) trimester to provide extra energy needs for the depositions, of tissue, or secretion of milk

protein is dramatic increase from around 47g to about 90 g in 2nd trimester/3rd

increase in carb in order to spare the protein

growing fetus takes a lot of b6 . recommended is 1.9 mg per day

vit b12 needs also as needed for rbc formation

minerals : calcium, phosphorus iron(most absorbable is red meat) , magnesium , zinc

life expectancy has increased . Aging affects every tissue and body and organ some of the changes are inevitable with others are for the most part preventable and healthy eating habits that include good diet and exercise

energy requirements decrease with age

the same types of nutrients are required by older people as young although the proportions are different , due to the decrease in muscle mass, and a reduction in physical activity

inf fcat older people may require increased amounts of certian nutrients

zinc defieincy is common in older people
elderly need to be reminded to drink fluids mimim 1.5- 2 l a day
