What are carbohydrates ?
The main source (and preferred) energy source for all types of exercise, of alll intensities (aerobic and anaerobic)
What is an example of carbohydrates ?
Brown bread, Brown pasta, Potatoes and Brown rice.
How percentage of carbohydrates contain ?
55%-60%
What are fats ?
An energy source: they provide more energy than carbohydrates than carbohydrates but only at low intensity. Easily stored in the body and can lead to weight gain.
What are examples of fats ?
Butter, oil, fatty meats, avocado and fried foods
What percentage of our diet should come from fats ?
25%-30%
What are proteins ?
They are used for growth and repair of muscle tissue. Used by performers such as sprinted to aid muscles growth (hypertrophy)
What are examples of proteins ?
Cheese, milk, eggs, lean meat and fish
What percentage of your diet should be from proteins ?
15%-20%
What are vitamins and minerals ?
Vitamins and minerals are for maintains the efficient working of the body systems and general health. This includes helping to keep:
- Our bones strong
- Our immune system working
Where do you find vitamins and minerals ?
Vitamins are contained in fresh fruits and vegetables.
Minerals are contained in lots of different foods, including meant and vegetables
