Aggression Flashcards
What are the two different types of agression ?
Indirect and direct
Why does aggression occur in sport ?
Can be used to deliberately cause harm or injure another person; for example, performing a high tackle in rugby.
Can be physical or mental, provided the intent is to harm.
What is direct aggression ?
The term direct aggression is an aggressive act that involves physical contact with others to cause physical harm to gain an advantage. Aggressive acts are normally outside the rules of the sort, but the player still carries them out
in hope they won’t get caught.
What is an example
of direct aggression in the rules and out of the rules?
Hard rugby tackle can cause harm but not against the rules.
High rugby tackle is against the rules and players do them anyways in hope they
won’t get caught.
What is indirect aggression ?
This is an aggressive act that does not
involve physical
contact.
What is an example of indirect aggression ?
A nasty remark
An act against an object to gain advantage (a hard shit directed at an opponent in tennis could intimidate a hen and
keep them at the back is the court, on the defensive)
