To reduce swelling and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis

A
Selective COX-2 inhibitor. The intention of COX-2 inhibitors was to avoid inhibition of homeostatic actions mediated by COX-1.

What are the adverse effects of Celecoxib?
A
Increase risk of MI (Decrease in PGI2 in coronary vasculature)

What are the drug-drug interactions of Celecoxib?
A
GI: Aspirin and glucocorticoid steroids and anticoagulants (PPIs should be considered)
Renal: ACEi, ARBs and diuretics
