Neuro 6: Cerebellum Flashcards
Superior relation of Cerebellum
tentorium Cerebelli
Anterior Relations of Cerebellum
- 4th ventricle
- Pons and open medulla
Lateral relations of cerebellum
- Sigmoid dural venus sinus
- Mastoid Antrum
- Mastoid Air cells
Contents of Superior surface of cerebllum
- Superior vermis: median longitudinal ridge formed of 5 lobules (Lingula, Central lobule, culmen, declive, Folium)
- Primary fissure: v shaped fissure seperating Anterior Lobule from (middle) posterior lobule
Contents of the Inferior Surface of the cerebellum
- Vallecula: which contains Inferior vermis
- Flocculus: 2 flocculi connected to median Nodule forming Floculo-nodular lobe
- Cerebellar Tonsil
Flocculus is almost seperated from cerebellar hemisphere by
Posterolateral fissure
Tonsil is partialy seperated from inferior surface of cerebellar hemisphere by
Retro-tonsillar Fissure
Enumerate main Fissures of the Cerebellum
- Primary fissure: seperates anterior lobe from middle (posterior) lobe
- Horizontal fissure: seperates Superior and inferior surfaces
- Postero-lateral Fissure: seperates Floculo-nodular lobe from rest of cerebellar hemisphere
Anatomical divisions (lobes) of Cerebellum
- Anterior Lobe: Cranial to primary fissure
- Posterior Lobe: between primary fissure and posterolateral fissure lying in both Superior and inferior surfaces
- Floculo-Nodular lobe: Caudal to posterolateral fissure, consits of two floculi and Median Nodule
Vestibulo-cerebellum (Archi-cerebellum) consits of …… Lobe, and is responsible for…… as it is connected to……
Flocculo-Nodular Lobe, Equilibrium, vestibular apperatus
Spino-cerebellum (paleo-cerebellum) Consits of …….., and is responsible for ….., as it is connected to
Vermal and paravermal Zone, Muscle tone and coordination, spinal cord & brain stem
Neo-cerebellum (Cerebro-cerebellum) consists of….., it is responsible for…. as it is connected to …..
Remaining largest part of the cerebellum, Planning and controling of the movement, cerebral cortex
