Q

What are the OSI layers?

A

Application - access to network resources
Presentation - formatting to stand format
Session - opening, closing, maintaining communication
Transport - sequencing, segmentation, host to host communication
Network - Addressing and routing, routers

Q

what is a ARP process?

A

Helps the network layer communicate through IP addresses to the data link layer Mac address by using broadcast communication, finds the right MAC and then stores it MAC address to the ARP cache to save the address.

Q

What is ARP poisoning?

A

The source computer does a local broadcast and a hacker sends a ARP poisoning attack and that sends a malicious mac address, that is saved in the ARP cache now that users computer will then always go back to the malicious address.

Q

What is MAC cloning?

A

An attack through wire sniffing gets mac address of a computer on the network uses macchanger on Kali spoofs the same Mac address and tricks your computer to connect with theirs

Q

What is MAC flooding?

A

A bad actor floods with a bunch bogas mac addresses and if there are no security controls, the bogus mac address get stored and the switch gets filled and can be subject to a fail open which results into broadcasting communications which the hacker can grab network communication and use it in a replay
