Optic
Brings impulses from the eye to the brain
Oculomotor
Sends motor impulses to some external and internal eye muscles
Trochlear
Sends motor impulses to one external eye muscle of each eye
Abducens
Stimulate the muscle that turns the eye from side to side
Facial
Stimulate the muscles, salivary glands, lacrimal glands and the sensation of taste on the anterior 2/3 of the tongue
Acoustic
Can be divided in two branches
Nerves are concerned with the sense of hearing and balance
Glossopharyngeal
Stimulate the parotid glands, the sense of taste on the posterior 1/2 of the tongue and part of the pharynx
Vagus
Stimulate part of the pharynx, larynx, vocal cords and parts of the thoracic and abdominal viscera
Spinal accessory
Stimulate the shoulder muscles
Hypoglossal
Stimulate the muscles concerned with movements of the tongue
Olfactory
Carries impulses from the nose to the brain
