Nervous System Composition
Brain, Spinal cord and Nerves.
Central Nervous System
Made up of only brain and spinal cord.
Sorts information from the senses and sends messages to the muscles and other parts of the body to stimulate an appropriate response.
Connected to all parts of the body via nerves.
Neurones
Specialised cells that conduct electrical impulses throughout the body to and from the CNS
Neuron Compositions
Cell body attached to nerve fibres.
Electrical impulse is carried towards the cell body of a neutron by a sensory fibre and away by an axon fibre.
The brain
The brain is the most complex organ in your body. It is protected by the skull and controls the vital processes that occur in your body, keeping you alive.
Regions of the brain.
Medullla
Cerebellum
Cerebrum
Medulla controls
Rate of breathing and heartbeat.
Cerebellum controls
Balance and muscular coordination.
Cerebrum controls
Mental processes like memory, reasoning and imagination.
