Nervous System Flashcards
Sensory information is conducted by neural pathways to the spinal cord and to the brain
The nervous system
Is divided in two major parts:
1) CENTRAL nervous sys ( body’s master control unit)
2) peripheral nervous sys ( body’s link to the outside world)
The central nervous sys is divided in other 2 groups:
~spinal cord: a column of nerves between brain and peripheral nervous sys
~brain
The peripheral is divided in 2 groups :
~the autonomic nervous sys :regulates involuntary things
~the somatic nervous sys : control s voluntary movements, carries sensory info from sensory organs to the central nervous system and relays motor movement
The autonomic nervous system is divided in 2 groups:
~sympathetic nervous system: mobilzes the body in response fro treats
~parasympathtic nervous sys: replenishes bodily resources by promting digestion and slowing down other bodilly process
