did the nep increase gdp, industrial & agricultural output?

A

yes, especially in the first 3 years due to repairing roads & bridges damaged in the war & putting factories back into production - also had better harvests in 1922 & 3 HOWEVER at the peak of the NEP grain production was still at 1/4 of the 1913 level

Q

did the NEP meet the needs of the state/people?

A

yes but not all equally = people were happier & had more drive to work, recovering the economy BUT the party wanted to get to a state of large scale industrialisation so they’d be protected in future wars, left wing members also saw it as a step back into more capitalist reforms
