take care of the family & household whilst also working, which placed a double burden on them
who were domestic duties now undertaken by?
other members of the family like grandma (babushki)
what did having grandmas take care of domestic duties do?
as soviet society had lots of respect for the elderly, this created strong multi generational families & reduced gov cost of old/sick care
what benefits increased?
social & provisional = housing, healthcare, education & childcare
how did benefits help families?
took much of the strain off families, more support
why were benefits not so good?
women were then encouraged to take up the gap in supporting the family with work due to now having less strain
when was abortion legalised again & why?
1955 = to reduce financial strain on families
