A

Check and hear the resuscitaire and have at least 2 towlels available

What to do as soon as baby is born?

A

Dry and stimulate (unless < 28 wks)
Place under radiant heat
Assess colour, tone, breathing and HR
Place head in a neutral position

What if the baby is not breathing?

A

Give 5 inflation breaths and reassess

Start bag and mask ventilation using room air

What if no chest wall movement?

A
Recheck head position 
Try airway manoevres 
Consider airway adjuncts
Repeat 5 inflation breaths 
Check response - increasing HR, visible movement of chest

When to start chest compressions and how they are done?

A

Absent or HR <60bpm

3 chest compressions to 1 breath for 30 secs

What to do if HR still absent/<60 bpm?

A

Venous access
Adrenaline IV/IO 0.3ml
Fluids - Saline
Check glucose and Rx hypoglycaemia with dextrose
Continure ventilation and chest compressions
