1
Q

False vocal cord

A

Composed of vestivular fold of quadrangular membrane = vestibular ligament

Runs from lateral epigottis –> arytenoid cartilage

Q

Quadrangular membrane

A

Runs from lateral margin of epiglottis –> anterolateral arytenoid cartilage

Free upper margin between epiglottis and corniculate cartilage

Free lower margin –> thickens vestibular ligament
= false vocal cord

Q

Cricothyroid muscle

A

Innervated by EXTERNAL branch of recurrent laryngeal

O: anterolateral arch of cricoid cartilage

I:

  • oblique: inferior horn of thyroid cartilage
  • straight: inferior margin of thyroid cartilage

F: forward and downward rotation of the thyroid cartilage at the cricothyroid joint
=tension of vocal cords

Oblique arytenoid muscle

A

Innervated by reccurent laryngeal nerve of the vagus nerve

O: posterior surface of muscular process of arytenoid cartilage

I: posterior surface of apex of CONTRALATERAL arytenoid carilage with extension to epiglottis (aryepiglottic part)

F: spinchter of laryngeal inlet
