NE 4.OA.4 - Factors and Multiples, Prime or Composite Flashcards
Find factor pairs of any number between 1 and 100.
Start with 1 times the number, then 2, then 3, and so on until you have tried all the possibilities. A calculator should be allowed for this.
Find multiples of a number (multiples up to 100).
This is just the same as skip-counting by that number.
Determine if a number is prime or composite.
You can do this by dividing the number by all of the prime numbers or just finding all the factor pairs starting with 1.
What is a prime number?
In math, prime numbers are whole numbers greater than 1, that have only two factors – 1 and the number itself.
Prime numbers are divisible only by the number 1 or itself.
What is a composite number?
A whole number that can be made by multiplying other whole numbers.
What is a factor?
Multiplying two whole numbers gives a product. The numbers that we multiply are the factors of the product.
What is a multiple?
Multiples are what we get after multiplying a number by another number.
