What part of the body is tested in these 2 tests?
Muscular endurance of upper body( abdominals) in the one minute sit up test and upper body( arm and shoulders ) in the one minute press up test

Explain the standard procedure for the one minute press up test.
Start position, in a mat with hands below shoulders and knees off the floor. Body must be straight.
On “ go” chest goes to the floor , with back straight and return to start position - this is one rep.
Another person counts how many reps are completed in one minute
What results are recorded ?
The number of Reps in reps per minute
What can make the results less reliable?
Bad technique would make the results less reliable
What would make the test Valid?
It measures the muscular endurance of upper body only so is not valid as a measure of overall muscular endurance
What equipment is needed for both of the muscular endurance tests?
Stop watch and mat
Explain the standard procedure of the one minute sit up test.
The performer lis on the mat in the start position with knees bent and hands by the ears.
On “ go” they sit up till elbows touch knees then lower to start position. This is one Rep.
The other person counts how many Reps are completed in one minute
What are results recorded in?
Reps per minute and then compared with published data.
What can affect the Reliability of the test?
Bad technique can make the results less reliable .
Why might the test be in valid?
If the performer Is trying to measure overall muscular endurance and not that of the abdominal muscles only.
