muscoskeletal system of animals Flashcards
Function of muscoskeletal system
- Support posture and form
- Protection for internal organs (skull to brain)
- movements
- storage of calcium and lipids, and produce blood vessels in bone marrow.
3 Main parts of skeletal system and description
Axial - ribs, sternum, vertebral columns, and skull
appendicular - appendages of external parts of axial skeleton (the rest of skeleton:: upper and lower limbs, and pelvic and shoulder griddle)
Splanchnic - bones of soft organ like os penis
All classification of bones
Long bone
Short bone
Flat bone
Irregular bone
This type of organ reacts to the sent electrical signal for them to move
Muscles
Type of connective tissue that is elastic that link bone to bone
ligaments
Type of connective tissue that link bone to muscle
tendon
A bundle of ligaments between two bones
joints
What makes up a skeletal muscles
a bundle of muscle fiber
a bundle of a bundle of muscle fiber = bundles of bundles
all together skeletal muscles
fibrous tissue that acts like a cushion
bursae
non-straited involuntary type of muscle tissue
smooth muscle
Straited involuntary type of muscle tissue that can only be found at one organ only.
cardiac muscle
straited voluntary type of muscle tissue
