- they have wedge shape, massive frame, small curly horns, and wall eyes
- often have white markings on their forehead, face, muzzle and legs.

- Has high reproductive ability producing calf every 12 months under average conditions.
- 6-7 litters of milk per day

- introduced into Europe
- Black, black and brown, and dark grey coat.
- Horns are flat at the bottom and slightly outwards pointed
- have compact conformation
Mediterranean Buffalo
Buffalo breeds:
- Heaviest of all Indian buffalo breeds
- also called Bhavnagri, or Gir, or Jaffari
- usual color is black but sometimes grey in color
- Horns are inclined to droop on each side of the neck and then turn up to the tips, the tights are not tight as Murrah breed.

- Coat color varies from rusty brown to silver-gray
- Skin is black or brown
- the barrel is wedge shaped
- horns are sickle shape moderately long and flat

- low, wide, and heavy build
- Horns are sickle shape and curve backward
- used mainly as draft and meat
