Goat Dairy:
- Has no distinct color that has been established
- both sex are generally short haired
- The ears are medium sized, fine texture, and preferably erect.
- Nicknamed Alpine Dairy Goat
- Excellent milkers has large well-shaped udders with well placed teats.
Alpine French Goat
Goat Dairy:
- Tall, rangy, and graceful
- best suited for temperate climates and perform poorly in high humidity climates.
- good milk producers
- have good winter milking and extended lactation period.
- black with white markings of mohair
Alpine British Goat
Goat Dairy:
- Developed in US from crossing a short-eared Goat with purebred of Swiss breeds
- lack of total ears
- has two types of this breed:
1. gopher - 1 inch
2. elf - 2 inch ear
La Mancha
Goat Dairy:
- Medium size, vigorous, and alert in appearance.
- color may be in chamois, but does may be black
- marking two black stripes on the face
- face is straight
Oberhasli
Goat Dairy:
- White light or cream in color of mohair
- roman nose is discriminated against
- medium to large size in ragged bone, plenty vigor yet feminine throughout
Saanen
Goat Dairy:
- various shades of brown with white markings, and two white marks appear on the face of eye to nose
- ears are medium size and alertly carried
Toggenberg
Goat Dairy:
- Similar to Saanen, pure white shorthair without any colored hair allowed.
- upright ears and mostly hornless 75% - 80%
- strong but fine bone, deep and long body, and long legged
- average 1700 pounds of milk per 300 days of lactation, can reach 3000 pounds
