Quadriceps
Powerful extensors of the knee joint
Soleus
Powerful muscle in the calf, runs from just below the knee to the heal, involved in standing and walking
Tibialis anterior
Goes from the tibia to the metatarsal bones is the foot, flexes and inverts the foot
Gluteus Maximus
Largest of the 3 gluteal muscles
Biceps brachii
2 headed muscle, flexes the elbow
Brachioradialis
Muscle of the forearm, acts to flex the forearm at the elbow
Rectus abdominis
Abs, responsible for flexing the lumbar spine
Abdominal external oblique
Pull the chest down and compressive abdominal cavity
Triceps brachii
Large muscle on the back of the upper arm, extends the elbow joint
Deltoid
Muscle forming the rounded contour of the shoulder
Trapezius
Moves the scapulae and supports the arm
Pectoralis major
In the chest, responsible for movement of the front shoulder joint
Gastrocnemius
In the calf, it’s function is flexing the foot at the ankle joint
Latissimus Dorsi
Responsible for many movements of the shoulder joint, lats
Biceps femoris
Muscle at the back of the thigh, part of the hamstring, 2 parts at it flexes the knee
