Works in the eye:
Produce mydriasis and cycloplegia
Antispasmatic, Antisecretory, Antidiarrheal opthalmology

Muscarinic Antagonist (Dry up everything, slow it down and open it up)
Used to treat BRADY and ophthalmic issues Eye: Incr pupil dilation, cycloplegia Airway: Decrease secretions Stomach: Decrease acid secretion Gut: Decrease motility Bladder: Decrease urgency in cystitis
Blocks DUMBBELSS
Works on skeletal muscle at the Nn level, no effect on Nm
SE of Atropine
Increased Body Temp (Hot as a hare) Rapid Pulse Dry mouth, Dry flushed skin (Dry as a bone, Red as a beet) Cycloplegia (blind as a bat) Disorientation (mad as a hatter) Constipation
Can cause acute angle glaucoma in elderly, urinary retention in BPH, hyperthermia in infants
