Mucles Flashcards
Tension
Only way muscles work
Tension elongates the spine
Posterior Back Muscles
Muscles of upper vertebral column under large muscles that connect to each arm
Ligamentum Nuchae
Connects base of skull to C7, forms boundary of the muscles group of the neck and shoulders
Posterior tension band
3 layers of muscle that extends the spine to counteract gravitational load of torso anterior to the spine
Superfical Group
(Erector Spinae, or Sacrospinalis group)
Forms the superficial tension band of the posterior lumbar spine
Extends from back of the skull to pelvis
Middle Group
Semispinalis group
Deep Group
Multi Fido’s, intertransvsacrri, rotators, levatores
Iliocostalis
Muscle group that attaches to lower ribs (iliocosis Lumborum) but continues cranial spanning six ribs and attaching to transverse processes of the neck
Longissium imus
Attaches to lumbar and inferior thoracic transverse processes (longissiumus dorsi) and in the thoracic region to the adjacent ribs
Quadratics Lumborium
Originates at last rip and transverse process of L1 and L4 and inserts into iliac crest to connect spine to pelvis
PSOAS Muscles
Psoas iliacum originates in anterior margin of the Lilian crest and inserts into lesser trochanter of femur
Psoas major originates in T12-T5 and inserts into lesser trochanter
