Q

How is the pectoralis major innervated?

A

By the lateral (C7,C8, T1) and medial (C5,C6) pectoral nerves
The lateral nerve provides motor input to the clavicular head
The medial nerve provides motor input to the sternal head.

15
Q

What is the action of the subclavius

A

Anchors and depresses clavicle

16
Q

Where is the serratus anterior found?

A

Under the pectoralis minor

17
Q

What is the proximal attachment of the serratus anterior?

A

Ribs 1-8 - lateral parts

18
Q

Where does the serratus anterior attach to (distally)

A

All along the medial border of the spacula

19
Q

What is the innervation of the serratus anterior

A

The long thoracic nerve (C5 C6 C7)

20
Q

What does the serratus anterior do?

A

Pulls the spacula in against the thoracic wall
Assists in upwards rotation
Protracts and stabilises spacula

21
Q

What causes winged scapula?

A

Serratus anterior paralysis usually caused by damaged to the long thoracic nerve.

22
Q

What connects the clavicle to the spacula?

A

The acromioclavicular joint

Joins the clavicle to the acromion of spacula

23
Q

What is the elevated sternal ends of the clavicle called in surface anatomy?

A

The jugular notch

24
Q

Where is the greater tubercle found?

A

On the lateral side of the anatomical neck of the humerus

25
Q

What is the articulating surface of the humerus and the spacula called?

A

Glenoid cavity on the spacula forms the glenohumeral joint with the head of the humerus

26
Q

What is the difference between the anatomical neck of the humerus and the surgical neck?

A

The anatomical neck is the widest part whilst the surgical neck is narrower and most common sit of fracture.

27
Q

What is groove called running inbetween the greater tubercle and the lesser tubercule? And what muscle attaches here?

A

Intertubular groove

Pectoralis major

28
Q

Viewing the posterior spacula…
What is the area above the spine of the spacula referred to as?
What is the area below?

A

The supraspinous fossa

The intraspinous fossa

29
Q

Viewing the anterior spacula what is the main fossa referred to as?

A

The subscapular fossa

30
Q

At the base of the humerus …

What are the two epicondyles and where are they situated (anatomical position)

A

Lateral and medial epicondyles
Lateral facing outwards
Medial facing inwards

31
Q

What is the name of the groove under the medial epicondyle that attached to the ulna?

A

Trochlea

32
Q

What is the name of the groove under the lateral epicondyle that attaches to the radius?

A

Capitulum

33
Q

What bone forms the majority of the joint with the humerus?

A

The ulna

34
Q

Which bone forms the majority of the joint with the carpal bones in the wrist?

A

Radius

35
