MSK - Muscles Of The Arm Flashcards
Where do the two heads of the biceps brachii attach to and from?
Short head is from the coraciod process to the tuberosity of the radius
Long head is from the supra glenoid cavity to the tub. of the radius
What is the biceps brachii function and innervation?
Function = flexion of the forearm Innervation = Musculocutaneous nerve
What is the action and innervation of the brachialis?
Flexion of the forearm
Musculocutaneous
What is the distal attachment of the brachialis and where does it lead to?
Anterior humerus – coranoid process
What is the role and innervation of the coracobracialis ?
Flexion and adduction of arm
Musculocutaneous
Where does the coracobracialis attach from and to?
From the coraciod process to the medial surface of the humerus
What is the role and innervation of the triceps brachii?
Extension of the forearm
Radial nerve
Where do the three heads attach from and to?
Long head attaches from the infraglenoid tubercle
Lateral head is the posterior humerus above the radial groove
Medial head is below the radial groove
All attach to the olecranon of the ulnar
What is the cubital fossa?
The hollow area anterior to the elbow joint that contains superficial neurovascular structures.
What are the boundaries of the cubital fossa?
Lateral epicondyle to the medial epicondyle
What is the order of subcutaneous structures within the cubital fossa?
(From lateral to medial)
Tendon(biceps) artery (brachial) nerve (median)
