In Lloyd and Fox’s 1992 study, what was the response to mastery and performance climates?
In mastery climate, the motivation to continue is significantly higher, and reported more enjoyment; high-ego girls lowered ego orientation in mastery climate, and low-ego girls raised ego orientation in performance climate
What are correlates of mastery climate?
Self-efficacy; effort and enjoyment; positive attitude toward class; belief that effort causes success; satisfaction with being a team member; mastery as a source of satisfaction
What are correlates of performance climate?
Tension; negative attitude toward class; belief that ability leads to success; boredom; satisfaction when outperforming others; perceptions of differential treatment of high and low achievers
What were the findings in the football study investigating goal orientation, motivation climate, and context?
High task orientation in both training and competition, but higher ego in competition than training; in training, need a high mastery climate as people naturally do not put in as much effort, nor enjoy it as much
