motion and forces Flashcards
what is newtons first law
an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to changes its state by the action of external force
what is newtons second law
greater force= higher acceleration
greater mass= acceleration will be slow
what is newtons third law
states that for every action there is a equal force and reaction playing against it. for example when you jump onto the ground the force is applied by you, then the ground is giving force so you don’t fall through .
what is reaction time
Reaction time refers to the amount of time it takes for a person to respond to a stimulus, such as a sound, light, or movement. It is the time between the presentation of the stimulus and the initiation of a response by the person.
what is reaction distance
Reaction distance refers to the distance that a vehicle travels before a driver is able to react to a perceived hazard on the road, such as an obstacle or another vehicle. It is the distance covered by the vehicle during the driver’s reaction time.
what are the 3 aspects to describe motion
the position, the speed and the acceleration
what is breaking distance
Breaking distance refers to the distance that a vehicle travels while coming to a complete stop after the brakes are applied. It is the sum of the reaction distance and the braking distance.
what is displacement
In science, displacement refers to the change in position of an object from its initial position to its final position. It is a vector quantity, which means that it has both magnitude and direction.
